Burning Down the House!!

The City of Rexburg purchased this house and property to put a new road in. They let the Fire Dept. use it for training. So...... Let's go play with some fire!!

We went into the house thru this door, (That is my foot in the doorway) See the flames rolling up over our heads!

Chuck, the fire inspector for our department is giving me instructions on how to "pencil" the hose and knock the flames back of of the top of us. I'm the one in the red helmet.

Now I'm "penciling the hose at the flame.

I love this photo. I think it's my favorite one that Lynn took. This is Craig, one of the fire interns.

At this point we are just letting it burn. The playing is over.

This is the window we were all sitting in. The entire side of the building is now involved. The plastic on thee wrought iron railing is now melting off.

Almost gone!!!

The power lines and trees got so hot that we had to put some guys over by them to squirt water and cool them all off.

I'm the second one from the front of the hose. We decided to make one more trip in and see how far we could go.

The flames you see coming out of the roof are from what we call "vertical venting." We cut a hole in the roof over the fire and the flames and smoke come out of the hole instead of laying on top of those in the house. Very Cool!!

The back of the house is now completely involved.

Now it's gone! Fire works VERY fast.

Nothing but the brick left.

We knocked the brick down and now this is what is left the next day.

My goodness, that is amazing. And scary. I wouldn't mind if I NEVER got that close to a house fire! I'll save it all for you.
