OUCH!!!

So we get called to a possible broken ankle at the football fields in Sugar City. The Madison Lionz are a semi-pro team that plays other teams in the area. I was the first one on scene and when I got to the patient he was lying on his stomach and his foot was turned at a very odd angle. I radioed back to the ambulance and told them that it definitely was deformed and that they would need drugs to help with this guys pain before we could move him. After administering drugs and rolling him over, this is what we found. The bone sticking out is his shin bone that connects the leg to the foot. Not broken, dislocated. He was a hurtin boy!! I found this link that shows how this happens and what it looks like on the inside of the foot: http://catalog.nucleusinc.com/generateexhibit.php?ID=10506&TC=&RF=1 I do love my job :)

EWWWWW! That is nasty! Hope that poor guy is feeling better now? I'm sure you were able to help him because you're awesome. I dislocated my elbow when I was little, and it was not pretty.
